Detailed information on SemanticNet:
|
|
The product is for IT departments who need a platform for rapid and
high-quality development and integration of information systems. First of all,
the platform bridges a gap between data and their conceptual representation, and
it facilitates declarative creation of rich GUI over data managed by different
DBMS at one time.
End users of information systems are always interested in information
semantics itself rather that how it is stored or accessed. That is exactly what
the platform gives for end users. Also within the platform, end users, operating
with application domain concepts, could create their own rich GUI forms over
integrated data with no programming and with automatically supported semantic
navigation and drilling down.
Specific needs can be met by developing new
components and publishing them within the platform by programmers. As now the
components can only be implemented with Java and DBMS can only be relational,
but it is permanent restriction.
The platform provides the high-level vision of data and reduces integrated system development costs since:
it separates the data and GUI layers by the semantic layer enabling rich GUI
form development for end users themselves who know application domains and
nothing about implementation;
form navigation and drilling down are supported automatically, form
publishing is sufficient for that;
it provides the single entry point, using one general GUI, into all
exploited information systems with semantic navigation throughout the whole
set of them like a single system.
The platform also reduces integrated system maintenance costs since:
data structures can evolve with no changes in their conceptual representation
for end users and GUI;
forms developed by end users themselves can be published for other users
to exploit, thereby reducing involvement of programmers in form development
and maintenance;
new information systems can be added dynamically and transparently for end
users who could only notice extension of the semantic layer.
The platform is being developed now.
The product has a series of innovations making it unique in the market niche:
Application-domain-oriented end-user-friendly development of rich GUI
with loose-coupled forms and automatically supported semantic navigation.
Semantic integration of different-platform information systems with
simple tuning up.
Automatic drill-down support for any data, not only those presented with an OLAP cube.
